Virginia Zoo layouts

Post by nchoney »

The trip was the day after we walked through the Botanical Gardens.. this is much of the Virginia Zoo in Norfolk - we missed seeing some of the animals on this trip, but I'm sure I have them in other photos.

Wow is right! That must be a wonderful zoo especially having elephants. They are so expensive to feed.
Wonderful layouts, Debi, you add something interesting to every one.

They've had those elephants for a while... but may wind up having to send them to another zoo soon.... the zoo organization that lots of zoos are part of .. and focuses on habitats and the future of the species... has said that elephants need to be in groups of 3 so they'll be more mentally well-adjusted. This zoo used to have a 3rd one but she died of old age, I think... so now they have to figure out if they can get another one or send these two elsewhere and get different animals and hopefully breed them... I think they're considering some rhinos... it'll be interesting to see what happens

Very nice, Nancy! I like your inclusion of a trompe l'oeil photo. Is the paper on your title page CS? Really like that, too.

The talk of elephants reminds me that the Toronto Zoo shipped their 3 aging elephants to an elephant sanctuary in California in 2013; an international news story at the time. I had fairly recent photos of them, and scrapped a page about it. Just learned that one of them, aged 46, died last month.

Keitha...
The title page paper was from a bundle I picked up at a store. Not CS papers. And which photo did you think was trompe l'oeil? :-)

Your husband (?) holding the world in his hand is an example of trompe l'oeil photography.
