Hope that low pressure system moves offshore quickly now, too. I think we've escaped having hurricane damage but that low that's pushing it is still causing the rain. Stay safe everyone! Looks like a good weekend to stay inside and craft!

Debi, you have certainly been in my thoughts w these storms prancing around.
Folks in the south and on the coast, I've been thinking about you also.

We are about water logged, too. But it hasn't been too bad. I've just used the
weather as an excuse to play! Stay save everyone.

I think there was more rain north and west of us. Hopefully Joaquin will just keep away from the coast and that low pressure will get out of here too and we can all dry out!

I've seen some really nasty photos of the Outer Banks (not sure exactly where, though) of high surf and flooding. Keeping everyone along the coast in my thoughts and prayers.

As for us - rain has eased off for now and you can find our driveway again, but the wind is picking up. We're under a high wind advisory until tomorrow morning at 8:00 and a flash flood watch until 8:00 tomorrow night. The wind bothers me because I leave for work at 7:00 - and if it's still blowing when I leave....

Yes this wind is scary because the ground is so saturated. My bones are killing me I am so ready to se the sun. We have had rain for 11 straight days. I have been doing a lot of ALSB'ing so feel good about getting something done.

Talked with Bonnie - their house was flooding last night on the front side, and the lake is up 2' since Friday. It was down about 5' so that's a good thing, and the flooding isn't bothering them too much since they're getting ready to renovate it. She and Mike are hoping that a good strong wind will knock a tree onto the house and they can just replace the entire thing. I told her to be careful what you wish for.

I haven't been able to raise Maddie (living in Wilmington now) or my brother in Columbia. Hoping no news is good news.

I think the northern part of Kitty Hawk is taking a beating. There isn't much of a dune so that road along the beach is most likely seeing some damage. I'm sure the ocean is rough but so far all is ok on the island.

I hope Marcie and your brother are both ok, Pam!

Pam I hope they are safe. I talked with a friend who lives in Greenville, SC and they have tons of rain but so far she is safe. Many roads are closed.

Made it in to work today... not much water on the highway on the island... so that was good.

Hope the rain stops soon for all of you getting inundated... but hope California got a good bit of much-needed rain!!

I'd like to send you some of the 10" that we had on my side of the county. Thank goodness our yard (most of the county, too) is mostly sand and it absorbed very quickly. Unfortunately SC wasn't so lucky. I'm sure by now you've all seen Georgetown, Columbia, Charleston and the beaches. The SC midlands and a good deal of the Lowcountry is flooded., some parts of it under 5' of water, with more rain falling today. The dams that held are being opened to let some of the overflow out before they do break, and all of that is going into the rivers that feed the lake where Bonnie is living now, and then down the locks and into Charleston. This is going to be a long time recovery. I have friends who have lost their homes and businesses, but they can be replaced. Just keep the Carolinas in your prayers and thoughts. They're strong people, but a little prayer never hurts.

We had an unexpected, WILD thunder storm last Saturday night. It did rain hard at my house for about 20 minutes and that was that. The next day you could hardly tell it had rained at all. But the booming, house-shaking thunder and light show was exciting. Not our usual California type storm.

Laurie has posted some photos of the water at her place. Didn't look good. I think they packed suitcases to leave. Haven't seen any more today.
