Playing with Ice Resin
Playing with Ice Resin
This is the product I used.
This is the container of watch parts I brought with me...
This is the bezel with watch parts and some Ice Resin in it. Before adding watch parts & the Ice Resin, the bezel was placed on a piece of packing tape.... the Ice Resin won't stick to the sticky packing tape.
And this is the Ice Resin mixed up:

Here are some samples from the store, and the pieces made by others in the class. Sorry about the blur... the camera on the phone doesn't look blurry when it's tiny!

Very cool. Is the ice resin easy to work with?

Re: Playing with Ice Resin
cool
thanks for sharing your progress.
I might have to hunt down some of my watch parts. I put them away.
I played with a resin before and it was clear but the name wasn't ice resin
Does anyone remember the pin swap? I used resin in that.

I love all the shapes you did.
Is it see through after it dries?
It looks like it in a couple of them.
I like the picture in that one.

Interesting, and very good looking.
could you get similar results with glossy accents...or a similar product?

Very cool Monica! I haven't heard of this. Looks like you had alot of fun with it! Definitely going to check it out though.
Re: Playing with Ice Resin
Ice Resin is easy to use, provided you follow the directions and stir for 2 full minutes, then let it set for at least 5 minutes before pouring into your form. You could certainly use Glossy Accents for the same purpose, but Ice Resin will stay clear over time and Glossy Accents may age and turn yellow. Only the ones in the top post are mine; the rest of them are from the class and from the store displays.

Re: Playing with Ice Resin
The same store that I took the class from sells little containers of them. I've also purchased baggies of parts at antique stores and yard sales.... and I hear estate sales are a great place to pick up watches at a low price that can then be pulled apart for all the nifty gears. You might also check with a local watchmaker, if you have one around. I've got some watches that no longer work in my jewelry box that I think I'm going to pull apart for the pieces. Oh, and watch cases, expecially pocket watch ones, make a great form to create your project in. Or you can simply buy the TH one....Kellacious wrote:Very nifty!

Re: Playing with Ice Resin
I've done some small projects with Glossy Accents, but I think if I were making jewelry I'd have to use something that I knew would stay clear, like the Ice Resin. Looks like fun!
