New style for me...

Post by gwenj »

I wandered on to Tim Holtz' blog last night, and he had a link to a site called Bad Girls... They do a monthly kit thing, and I went into their gallery and noted that their style is totally different than the rather minimalist things that I usually do... I decided to try it out--I used some patterned papers that I picked up recently at Archivers, and also tried out a new embellishment that I ordered along with my TH masks last week--it's called Glimmer Glass, made by Tatter Angels--described as "Victorian inspired printed transparent overlays..."

I had a lot of fun with this, though I'm not sure it goes with a lot of the photos I take... It seems to me that it works best with "posed" photos, and many of the layouts in their gallery use single photos...

It's very pretty!
I am avoiding that site - I want their kits but they're huge. Someday, when I have a few minutes, I'm going to see if I can recreate one of their kits from my stash and then use it to play with.
I know what you mean about the style - I think it's perfect for a photo like the one you used - or maybe for studio portraits?
Stunning -

Wow! Gwen, that is fantastic. It may not be what you're used to doing, but you're very very good at it! I love looking at your scrapbooks, adding this is fantastic! Use it as the cover page.

Gorgeous LO! Isn't hard to break away from our 'norm' - you did it just fine.

That is really pretty, Gwen! I don't know that I could do every page with just one photo, but it certainly feels good to break out, be artsy and do something different once in a while!

Thanks so much for all of your nice comments! I did have fun, and will probably try some variation of this style when the right subject comes along. I have to figure out how to "defeminize" it somewhat, though, as I have so many "guy" things with 3 out of 4 of my children being boys...
