February 2015 Scrapbook Sketch Challenge

Post by ScrappinJen »

Wow! Can you believe it? First day of the month and I'm ready. See. Sometimes those New Year's resolutions work.

I picked this sketch up over at Unity Stamps. If you have some of their stamps, you can join in over there also. (Always multi-tasking). Hope you like it. Fairly simple but easy to make as complicated as you'd like.

Wow. That sketch is humongous. I will work on getting it smaller.

So this is the layout I put together between Super Bowl commercials. It is one half of a layout about Gatherings in January. The other half will be posted at Story Stamp. Club Scrap paper. Unity stamps. Darice heart dies. I do feel somewhat forced when I fulfill challenges like I'm not really being true to my own style. But in the end, I'm reasonable happy with it this time.

I drove Mr. Daisy to a luncheon with two of his other retired co-workers. Total age there is 246 years. And they've known each other for 40 years. It was fun listening to them recall the good ole days.

How nice! - both the sketch and your layout.

I enjoy being pulled out of my comfort zone and I enjoy using a sketch to make it my own. Maybe I can give this one a go tonight.

I agree with Pam, if we don't try something different then we don't grow and learn.
This sketch reminds me of some of the printed papers I find hard to use or some of the stamps. This will be good for changing gears from Arizona layouts to layouts about my Mother-in-Law who loved gardening.

How did you get that sketch so big? There are times I would love to make posts bigger if they have a lot of details.

I don't know how I did that, Marianne. I'd like to make it a tad smaller.

The Unity challenge (aside from the sketch) was to use a color scheme. Thus the different colors of purple ink. I probably would have never made this layout without the challenge so I suppose it is good to stretch occasionally.

Thanks for your comments.

Not sure why I haven't looked at this sketch before now; oh wait, perhaps work would be the reason. I like it, and hopefully my Muse will come up with something clever to do with it while I putter away on other things this morning.
You interpretation is lovely, Jen.

I thought this challenge was a good sketch for the first page in my Yellowstone album. I used some paper from CS's Full Circle kit (I think that's the name?) and then the stencil from Great Outdoors, I thought they represented the cottonwood trees that were so pretty, especially in the Lamar Valley.

Jenn and Nancy-- love both of those. I really love hearing the older generations and all their great stories. We have it easy compared to what they endured. The Yellowstone LO is pretty. Love visiting the Lamar Valley. Always a treat to see buffalo and if you're lucky a wolf.

My attempt at stamping was pretty horrible so I went in a different direction. Products are from my kit from Monica. Page idea from Lori Allred (I think - somewhere on Pinterest).
More photos from fall 2012.

Those are all great layouts. I'm going to open up me Scrapbook Generation kit tonight. Maybe I can find something there to do this sketch.
