Here is my attempt to do my own challenge and get outside my comfort zone:
mostly cardstock and a printed paper that isn't Club Scrap,
meaningless embellishment including heart all unrelated to subject of photos,
nothing much lined up including stamped letters that go off the page,
stamped Australian cottage is the embossed element,
not thrilled with the whole thing

I think you just gave proof that we are the hardest critics on ourselves. :)
Your layouts are not bad at all!

Marianne, I agree with Christy! We are our worst critics. :? Your layout is great  There is balance between the pages, and even though you said the embellies don't relate, I think they look great! The randomness of the pictures leads your eye in a relaxed way, and the printed page grounds it. I like it---don't be so critical of yourself!! If you are going to use these as a two page spread, I would put the *country towns* first, with *going places* last, as those embellies would end the spread. Great job, maybe you need to try another one, just to get yourself used to it? :happywave: :happywave:

Now wait, Marianne....I agree with flipping the two pages....for eye movement and all, but if you really look at these pages they appear really thought out...colors all flow and the mattes pick up colors in the photos...stamp tells what your subject is....I like it!

Great layouts! The photos take center stage - and that's the way it should be.
Yes, we are our own worst critics.

I agree with the others, Marrianne. This is a nice LO for the subject matter, as it could have been really boring to look at if Layed out all neat and proper. This LO treament gives the subject matter life and I found myself drawn in and interested.

Thanks, all, for the comments. Lots of well thought out observations, thanks for taking the time to really look at it. I will try switching the two pages when I get home as Paula suggests.

My DH takes these random pics of usually empty streets in Aussie country towns and they were very boring and all horizontal so I kept putting them aside until I was desperate for something to scrap while at my Mom's house last week. So glad, I made them a bit more interesting, Holly!

Thanks again!

Plenty more time for others to try this challenge, what are you waiting for-the weekend?

Hello Everyone,
I wanted to let you know that Pam Cook will be doing the honors on Sunday for me randomly choosing and announcing the winner. I will be without a computer and the Internet for a week or two at my Mom's house. I will call Pam and find out the winner and her address and hopefully get a suitable prize off to the winner before too long.

Thank you all for playing this month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
