Just a suggestion - but it's probably a good idea for the LFB and card swaps to get their own thread now, so that people can bookmark/subscribe/whatever to those topics.

_____________________________________ #1 in the order of the PAO
In case anyone else is still considering joining us - we do have some spaces left.
Deadline for registration (money in my hand) is 10/1 - because I have to place orders with the caterers.
Let me know if you have questions -
Yeah I can come join all of you!!! Hubby says he will stay home with the dogs! We tried to get the dog sitter so he could come visit family in Gastonia but she was not available on short notice. We usually plan our trips 12-24 months ahead so we can make sure we have doggie coverage.
If anyone is driving down through VA and wants to meet up and convoy let me know. I plan to leave relatively early on Friday and wont' be driving back until Monday to allow for sleep catch up from Friday and Saturday night!
Does anyone know how Route 29 south thru VA and into NC is to drive? That is what mapquest is showing as the routing. We usually take 81 as far as possible when we head to Athens Ga but that looks out of the way. However sometimes the shortest path is not the fastest path. So any thoughts????
I am coming from interstate 81 and route 66 in the northern Shenendoah Valley. I am just a little concerned that route 29 may be only two lane and I can't tell from what I have seen so far. I also don't know if it winds thru little hills and dales with lots of stop lights. That is why I am trying to find out if that is also the fastest route or should I go what looks out of my way but may get me there in less time.
I just looked at the map and it looks like a fairly good road, but the last time I went to Reidsville was almost 20 miles ago and the roads were a lot of two-lane. Is there any way you can get over to 501 without going way out of the way? I think if you want to be assured of primarily four lanes that would be your best bet, and it takes you directly into Sanford.
I have a NC/Va map in my truck - I'll check the route when I go to lunch in a few minutes.
I've been staring at maps and looking at routes, and it looks like the best route is going to be 501 south. You can pick it up in Virginia not far from I81. Not sure what the roads are like in Va. going that route, so the best bet might be to call AAA and see what they can tell you or ask the local Highway Patrol. I've found that their information is more reliable than anyone else's. NC 501 is a good road.
Rebecca I am out of town now but when we head to VA we always take the back ways through NC from where we live and go up 29. I'll be home around the 2nd and can give you a call if you'd like
