Altered Journal-updated pages added
I handmade this journal. I used the covers from an old hymnal that I altered. You can read the entire process on my blog. I did want to mention several of the things I used that make the journal special to me.
The crystal piece on the bottom of the frame is a crystal from my mom's old chandelier that had been ruined in hurricane Bonnie. The jeweled piece for a closure is from my grandmother's broken earring. Since neither my mom or grandmother is still alive, both of these pieces make the journal mean even more to me.
The binding fabric I used is from a negligee I received as a wedding gift so many, many years ago. The lace behind the cover is a piece that Marianne gave me.
One of the pages is a color copied portion of a letter that my father wrote to my grandmother when he was stationed in the Pacific during World War II. You can see the edge of the letter in the picture.
I'm very excited to work in this journal. I love so many things about this journal. It makes me smile every time I pick it up.

Thank you for sharing this with us. You've created a beautiful treasure. If you haven't already done so, you need to make one of your journal pages about the items and memories that went into creating the book. It's a beautiful story that needs to be passed on with the book.

Thank you for all the kind remarks. Sue, that's a great idea to do a page telling the story behind it. As I think of this I may add pictures of each person along with the story.

Re: Altered Journal-updated pages added
I took Sue's suggestion to add some pages telling why this journal is so special to me. Here are the pages. The picture was taken the day my mom and dad were married. it was war time and my grandmother was the only family member able to attend. You can read the entire post on my blog.
