Loving all this. So, Marianne, are you still wanting to get rid of some of your collection? I'm looking for only specific colors to fill out my collection of the colors that work best in fused glass. If you still want to part with anything, I'll find my wish list.

I tried the clear embossing powder with minimal success. It isn't shiny enough even with a couple of coats. I also have one drying that I used the clear rock candy crackle paint on, but I am thinking I need to head to Hobby Lobby and buy the utee.

Ok, I have a question... I got the utee and it definitely works better, but I had some problems with bubbles. Am I heating it too long or not long enough or ??? I tried double layers and it helped in one spot, but not the other. Any tips?

BTW, the rock candy crackle paint was a FAIL. It was too cloudy. I put utee over it and it worked like a charm. The cloudiness disappeared.

I'd say you aren't heating it enough but I don't know much about it. It should go very smooth as long as the powder was on the spot. Move the heating tool around and then go back to the stubborn spots.
I sometimes dip it into the UTEE without reinking if it is very hot and you can do it quickly. The UTEE will stick to the previous layer if it's hot.

...the continuing saga of the Pearl Ex. I was rearranging a few drawers today and pulled out the Pearl Ex container and the gum arabic I bought to use with them. While googling both of them for some ideas, I came across a real winner-You can turn it into embossing powder! On the Jacquard forum about pearl ex, they talked about it. Proportions are a little iffy. I'd start with a 1/2 tsp. of clear EP and then gradually add the color PE until you like the look of it then emboss it to see what the color looks like.
If doing several colors on one piece of paper like mine, start with the darkest color and work to the lights. I did the opposite so had to redo the yellow at the end. It is all very messy and sticks to the previously embossed areas so brush it off. You can see how the flowers picked up the greens, etc. It gets all over the background but won't heat set if it is just on the paper. Have a swiffer cloth standing by to wipe away the excess powder from the background. It is more shimmery than glossy like the clear EP would be on its own. I mixed up some colors with the gum arabic and brushed that on everything, too. Then added some black lines back into it. Too bad you really can't see the shimmer. But the PE is not rubbing off. I'll definitely be trying this again, I was thinking I needed to buy some pretty EP colors. When I was finished, I dumped the mixes back in the Pearl Ex jars. A little binder can't hurt it!

Very nice. You can use them, too, on the background stamp cards from class. People talked about them falling off, but mine stayed just fine.

Thanks, Judy! Was that using a Versamark pad? I need to go back through the forums and read a lot of posts. I'm sure there is a lot more good info in there. The teachers did a good job of popping in to answer questions.

I wonder where my Pearl Ex is? That's the trouble with rearranging supplies...

Gorgeous - thanks for the tips. I personally, like the colors blending on your cards but I can see there might be times when it wouldn't work.

Hey, thanks for finding that Marianne! I was thinking I needed more colors of EP (I have the basics and some metallics) but what a great idea with the Pearl Ex. I'll have to give it a try!

I'm going to try making some embellishments for Helen and mom-in-law for Christmas.... was going to do that, anyway... but now I want to make some cool shiny ones, too... I've got PearlEx... and hopefully I have clear UTEE (I just HAD to have some UTEE a few years back.. and then never used it... so hopefully I asked for clear.. LOL)

Should be a fun way to create some unique embellishments...

Might try the Crystal Effects kind of stuff on some, too... just to see what happens.
