Been doing some Art Therapy

Post by azemigh »

Trying to take my mind off the loss of Gus, so I made a trip to the local Goodwill and found some more stuff I could alter for storage here. My space is very limited, I use the corner of the "bridge" area of the trailer part of our little cabin here. It doubles as my side of the kitchen table for eating too, but I really like to have my stuff out and available, so I'm always on the lookout for old spiceracks and collage box type items. Found 3 of those items to alter and an old cd rack for ink pads; also found a rusy plant holder sitting in the yard so I painted it up and am using it for fiber storage.

The 2 collage drawers I just painted white and put a K&Co paper in for the back; filled with little glitter pots, wc pots, eps and misc. little stuff.

The old spice rack got the same paint job and some of the scrap paper to become my Mists, Paints and Sprays storage.

Here is a pic of the whole space; you can see the new racks up above the cork board. The cork board is a permanent fixture because there is an old trialer window behind it, so I'm using it kind of like a peg board. The old plant holder is held up to it with push pins. Also found part of one of those wire vegetable baskets out in the shed to use for flowers. The spice rack towards the bottom right is the one I altered last year. You can see the ink pad holder over to the left; going to drill holes in the top to hold my ink blending tools and if you look up towards the top left you'll see a little round cagelike thing--I think I'm going to use that as my birdcage base for the Let Freedom Ring challenge. Still thinking on that one.

Thanks Paula! I've been thinking about it. It was already there when we bought this place and it's blue plastic--was thinking I could pounce it with alcohol ink too.

I like the white, too, it looks so bright and makes a nice backdrop for all the bright little jars, etc. You're really packing a lot into a little space.

I don't think I've ever seen one like that, what a cool way to use it. Now I'll have to be on the hunt for one. Love the way it displays the pads.

You've really got a lot of stuff in a small space - great job. And I love what you've done with your Goodwill items.
