Creative Chemistry Day 5

Post by mpizzazz »

Oops, Monica is too busy working and cleaning for the nieces' visit to post a topic for today.
I hope lots of people get caught up on the classes over the weekend and post lots of samples.

Here are the ones I did today.
tag 1-I found the resist paper started to break down and get fuzzy if you had to rub the Stain dabbers too hard. I guess getting them flowing on some scrap paper would be a good idea. I happened to have that dress pattern stamp so decided to use it on the same resist paper.
Tag 2-I don't have the Picket Fence Stain so I used some thick reinker from Ranger that is for Antiquities pads which must be something they made long ago. I just painted it on the stamp and pressed it on the tag. I could still rub it away with water like Tim did.
Tag 3-I have no variety of Stain colors so I dripped reinkers and the thick white ink on the craft mat, sprayed with water on the tag and mat and slapped it on there. Very similar effect to his. I happen to have the stamp set he used so I used it for the sheer novelty of having the same set he used.

Beautiful tags! Yep, too busy today to create a new topic; thank you for getting it started. :happy94: This is the first chance I've had since early this morning to even get online, and I'm going to bed shortly. Girls get up much earlier than I usually do on the weekends!!

Wow, those are pretty! I'm so far behind. I just watched day 2 today and did not get to play. I lost 2 days to the snow and now we're packing to head back for Arizona, then we've got the youn'un turning 21 on Wednesday and we're spending time with him at a big SCA event plus I have a quilt retreat thrown in there. And then, I can't believe I'm saying this, we're going to turn around and come back to Oregon to continue working on the things we were working on when the snow hit. We're nuts!

I like them all but tag #2 is
my favorite, I really like that you were
able to improvise to get the same effect

Really pretty Marianne!
I'm not a fan of his Kraft resist paper but I do a fair amount of embossing. It was interesting to see how the Distress Stain worked with it. (I do realize the difference between embossing and varnish, too.)
Last evening I read through a lot of the questions other people posted. Wow. I could never be a teacher.
My coworkers watched him do tag #3. They were completely blown away. It's one of my favorites (and I have that set, too).

When my DD was talking about being a teacher
I asked her if she could tolerate being stupid from the kids
She said I'm like you Mom "I don't do stupid nor do I tolerate it"
I think I'd have to :censor: some one after the second stupid question.

I don't have his kraft resist paper, so I'll have to make my own. I love the look of these tags.

Thank you. ;) The middle one is my favorite, too, Christy. That one is actually my second attempt; I used lighter colors for the first one. It didn't show off the technique as much as I wanted for a sample, so I'm using it for a bookmark. I'll post a picture and share later...

I love the distress stains over kraft resist! Don't know why I haven't done that before. I also really like the white paint stamping over distress; heck, I just really love Distress Stains, period!
