Creative Chemistry Day 1

Post by Monica »

Have you looked yet? ;) I've got the pdf printed out but won't be able to watch the video until I get home tonight. I really like that this is starting with the very basic.

Just now able to take a break in my day...

ETA - What a great video. Tim is just one of those teachers. I can usually "get" what he is presenting and in a way that I retain the information.

Me, too! I watched, I printed and I did my homework this morning! I'm glad I don't have a lot of different brands of inks. It took awhile to do it and it's surprising how little info there is online at the manufacturers. It was hard to figure out some of them but I have the blank chart colored in nicely. It was a very good exercise.

Now if only I could find my special glossy paper saved for a special occasion

That was fun, I can see I'll be watching everything all over again when I get back to AZ. Only have a "mini" studio here in Oregon. Will be going through the main stash when I get back.

I had a package of glossy paper and I thought I knew where I put it...
Rummaging through my inks and such. No wonder some of them work better than others on certain projects. No wonder I reach for some inks more often than others.

I hate to tell you how many ink charts I
have printed out over the years to tell what
was dye and what was pigment and still did
not know what the difference was.
I can now say, I know what the difference
between them actually is

Hey, Pam, maybe our glossy papers went on a sabbatical together. They are all headed to AZ to be with Tim at this creative time.

Since I had the camera out.... here's my homework from Day 1. ;) I tested the various inks and paints I have per Tim's instructions. He provided the information on the Ranger products.

Do it, Pam! It's just play, no pressure! I am not usually a class taker, but Tim is such a good teacher.

In all honesty, Pam, I didn't think I'd really learn anything new. It's probably the only chance I'll get to take a Tim class, and it's a reasonable price, so I jumped on it. Having been a Ranger inks fan since I started stamping around 1998, I thought I pretty much knew the products..... but I've learned something new both days. I truly recommend it as it will help you see your supplies in a different light and does give you insight into the chemistry of the various products.

Exactly what Monica said only without the cool Darth Vader smilie. I knew the basic principles of dye versus pigment etc but I have learned a lot all 3 days. And the chart exercise with your non-Ranger products was very educational.
