The Lochridge Slides
Re: The Lochridge Slides
This week we're doing tributes to our dads, so I chose my grandpa to focus on, after all he took most of these wonderful slides. My grandpa passed away in 1986 after battling mesothelioma for a couple of years. He told stories of his years as a carpenter when they cut huge sheets of asbestos with no protection whatsoever and he would come home covered in the dust. If we'd known then..............I remember as a little girl, Saturday's with grandpa, walking down Main street to D'Jon's restaurant for the biggest, yummiest cheeseburger you've ever had and steak fries piled a mile high and to top it off a chocolate shake made on the coolest looking machine I'd ever seen. Then we'd walk over to the post office and check box 22, (it had a square glass door and brass knobs) and he would lift me up to do the combination and get the mail out. Then, the walk home. It's amazing that I can remember it so vividly.

I really like this layout. I hope you are adding the stories that you are telling us somewhere among the layouts. Those written memories are as precious as the photos.

Maybe on a companion page? As I get older, I'm finding that it's the stories that I miss the most. Wish I'd written them down when my parents and grandparents were telling them to us.mpizzazz wrote:I really like this layout. I keep thinking that too Pam. Every time I see my Mom and Dad I ask more and more questions - because as a kid and young adult what did I care about their childhood?! Now I do!pbp908 wrote:Maybe on a companion page? As I get older, I'm finding that it's the stories that I miss the most. This week our theme is transportation, so I chose my grandpa's pride and joy a 1963 Pontiac Catalina. It was soooo pretty inside (teal blue) and I loved to go for a ride in it.
