Oh, that is really silly, Rachelle. Those family members quarreling must have never done genealogy research. You learn very quickly that spelling was very flexible. Most people back in the 1800s couldn't read or write so names were written down as they sounded. Eventually a particular spelling was settled on and it stuck and it might have been different from your cousin down the road.

that explains my BIL's family... or the story they tell is that all the brothers wanted to differentiate themselves when they came to America so they all spelled the last name a little different. BIL is a Mahaffie, some are Mahaffey!
and ofcourse my nephew used to write it this way ---- Ma 1/2 E!

Nancy that is too funny!

My paternal ancestors came to America in 1859 and the last name has been spelled 3 or 4 different ways. Not by the family members but by the people they had contact with while first being in the country. 3 of them were in the Civil War and the records all have the last names spelled either Cossack, Kossack, Kosack or Kosak. You get a lot of choices! They all settled on Kosack as far as I know from all the ones I have been in contact with.

Ok, folks, this one's a little gross, but, hey grandpa took the slide and it fits the category uniforms. This is my dad in his anatomy class the year he graduated from medical school. I blurred out the cadaver so you don't have to look at that, but he's wearing one of the white lab coats he would don for the next 45 years during his practice. There seems to be a slide for every category somehow.

After getting past the cadaver part, I also noticed how handsome your dad is.

You really do have a slide for everything!. Great page!

Thanks everyone! That handsome young man will turn 70 this year. What! That means I'm turning 49. Holy cow, where did the time go?

Rachelle - Don't look at it as aging - cheese ages. Look at it as a fine wine - maturing and blossoming into a rich full bodied vintage.

I'd just like to be a bit less full bodied.
