I am done with 4-shared

I have decided that from here on out, I will no longer participate in blog hops for digi freebies. The designers put out some really nice stuff, and I am thankful that they are willing to share. However, most of them put their stuff on 4-shared. And today, at work, I downloaded some malware that could not be gotten rid of. It was one of the nastiest pieces of work I have ever seen. It installed itself automatically, and disguised itself as anti-virus software. And it blocked my ability to run anything that would let me kill a process. And the only web sites that it would let me get to were the porn sites they inflicted on me.
The worst part about all of this - I didn't actually click on anything. This happened with nothing more than a mouseover. Trust me, I watched it happen. I was horrified.
I have no idea if the tech support guys were able to get rid of it or not, because I had to go to a meeting, and then I left for the day. On one hand, I shouldn't have been surfing for digi files at work, but on the other hand, thank goodness it was at work, because at home, my only choice would have been to wipe out everything and re-install windows. At least the guys at work can get in with other types of logins and run other tools that might recover my workstation. Getting a new PC with all of my development tools is a process that can take days.
So anyway, I'm just passing this along, because I know there are others that get stuff from 4-shared. I'm done with digi freebies, except those that I can download from a store site that I trust. And ultimately, I'm happy to pay designers for their work anyway. I have more than enough freebies that I should really only need to look for very specific things for a very specific project anyway.
