Clarification, Please

The way I've always understood hybrid scrapping, you create most of the LO in digital, then print it out and add some embellishments. Everything I've ever seen of it was that way. Now CS is calling pre-made cards (print them, cut them, glue them, mail them) hybrid? Am I missing something?

I've understood Hybrid to be part digital and part
paper. I would create digi elements to add to my
paper pages, that would be considered a hybrid
page, or if you add paper elements to your digi
page that would be considered hybrid.
6 of 1 half a dozen of the other. :)

Pam, if you printed a card on wonderful CS paper, I suppose you could go so far as to call it hybrid. I think they are recommending embellies, aren't they? IMHO if you print it, then add something physical then it would be hybrid in my book.

That is like the little houses at Christmas. They were hybrid and that is the only thing like that I have ever done. You printed out the houses on plain white card stock and then add what you wanted for the finishing touches. They were cute and I printed a bunch and decorated them all different for hanging on one of my trees.

If any part of something is digital and you print it and add any item to it
It becomes hybrid.
It's mixing the 2 together.
That's from Scrappersguide

I've done several of the cards - printed out the different pieces, adhered to a card base and usually add ribbon, brads and ink - have also used twinks, and other products to embellish........am attaching a few

Thanks

I suspect that quite a few places are picking up on the fact that "hybrid" is all the rage now, so pretty much any project that has a digi component (as in something done in an imaging tool) and a traditional scrap component is considered to fit the bill. Not that I agree with that concept personally. If, in the card example, the card has already been layered and flattened for you and all you have to do is print and mount it, then yeah - it's hybrid, but the end user/artist did not do a hybrid project, in my own view. The digi work was done by someone else.

Of course, that's just my view. I don't see a thing in the world wrong with starting projects with something printed from the computer, but for me to consider a project that I did to be truly hybrid, then I would have had to have done the digi work myself - not just printed someone else's work. If I started with someone else's image and went from there, I (personally) would still consider that a paper project.

It's all still art though. :creating:
