In the olden days, when you could take your sharp little scissors on planes, I did cut out tiny things on a few flights. Now, I think you would be better off stamping images ahead of time, and coloring them on the plane.

I might take some watercolor pencils or crayons and do some backgrounds. I have a small scrapbook for DGD to work on. The papers will be pre-cut and the photos pre-cropped. I can spend a few hours putting the album together and maybe do some journaling between flights. Pre-stamped images is a great idea, too.

Ruth Ann - I saw in CK where they did a similar pleated flower with tissue paper strips. Do you remember making carnation corsages with kleenex?

Here are my first two flowers. On the first one, I stamped in Purely Pomegranate in, and ran all four pieces of tissue through the Cuttlebug at once, with the pin dot embossing folder.

On the second one, I started with a 1" wide strip of scrap cardstock and cut it with decorative scissors, then used a tiny hole punch after scoring every 1/4" or so. Inking the edges made all the difference in the world! I added a Martha Stewart punch and a very large pink clear button on top. My book is already too thick now!

Patti...very nice flowers! My book is longish..(see photo) and I joined with two large o-rings at the top....the bottom, where the flowers are attached bulges way out...I hung it on a peg in my scraproom for the time being....

I'm going to be gone to see my best friend from High School Tue and Wed and since I'll prob be packing and laundering tomorrow I thought I'd put these up today.

The first is a simple scallop edge flower.

1. Cut a circle using a scallop punch and ink the edges.
2. Cut into the circle every 1-2 scallops depending on the number of petals desired.
3. Flip the circle over onto a soft surface and using a rounded pointy (but not sharp) tool, emboss the ends of the scallops in a circular motion.
4. flip the flower and do the same to the center of the flower.
5. add brad

One example (the upper) is cut every 2 scallops and the lower is cut every scallop.

I'm adding a second flower because the materials are the same...just a little more to it.

Ruffled flowers
1. Cut 10 circles with a scallop punch.
2. Randomly fold and wad up each circle. When all 10 are done, unfold and stack, keeping centered.
3. Pierce center and use a brad.
4. fold and wad each petal around the brad center starting with the innermost circle and working outward...Hold the wadded center as you do each layer.
5. Gently open the layers to flufff.
