The flower on the box in the photo uses RA's technique; the decorative edge was cut with decorative scissors with a very small (less than 1/4 inch) scallop. The paper strip was about 1-3/4 inch wide, so the flower came out really big. It was a b*tch to glue and fold up and hold flat, but once it was done, I glued a Prima flower on top, then a punched flower in a very dark color (this one is black, but dark purple or navy or burgundy would look good, too), then topped with a glass pebble. I can't take credit for the design; I took a class where we made it!

I have not put these in a book but here are 2 that I did. They are laying on Club Scrap Gratitude kit. I like that as the background. The big one was done with 1 1/2 inch strip and small with 1 inch. Different punches used for both.

Really pretty Cheryl - The one could look like an ice crystal (at least that's what my brain is saying right now).

Pattie - I remember that flower! It's so pretty. At first I didn't notice the touch of black. If you did the flower in yellows or oranges and then added the center in browns, it would remind me of sunflowers or black eyed susans.

Beautiful Cheryl...as you all can see, different paper, different punch, different size, different center....makes a huge change in how these look. I think this is a very versatile flower pattern.....

It is nice. Just takes a bit of practice getting it to lay correctly. I think I like the smaller one better but I am going to try some other punches and papers.

I've got weeks 1 & 2 done.... I'll post pictures when I get a chance. I found that using a glue dot rolled up worked better for holding the center of week 2's flower, then it was adhered to the little cardstock base.

I found that a glue dot worked easiest too Monica! I have both done, and now to work on some to actually put on something. I'll take a picture when I do!

I just found this cool video tutorial and I have to share it before I forget. Maybe this one could be done in one of the upcoming weeks?

supplies
two pieces of paper, 1.25x11 inches
a circle of adhesive
a crimper
a decorative edge punch
ink to ink the edges of the paper
a one-inch paper circle and a fabric-covered brad for the flower center

she ran the strips of paper through the crimper three times to soften them up. Great way to use a crimper if you have one, but you could just run the paper strips along the sharp edge of a table instead to break up the paper fibers.

I was thinking that Prima flowers don't seem so expensive now.
Actually, cute flower and I could almost buy a crimper just to do the leaves!
I wonder if TSA would let me bring a Cuttlebug and a bunch of scraps on the plane. I have Tim's new flower die - just think how many flowers I could cut during 26 hours of flight time...(okay, I'm joking - can you imagine how annoyed a seat mate would be?)
