Bernie Berlin - String/ fun foam

The idea of these two techniques is to add texture to your ATC's/projects. Use fibers, rubber bands, yarn, string...
Use mat board for your card, wrapping the string around it lots of times in more than one direction (or use your fibers to make a design on your card).
Cover the front with gesso (which acts like a white primer - I'm going to use white acrylic paint).
Add collage images with gel medium (I'm assuming you should let the gesso dry first).
Cover it with washes of color. She says she likes to work with 3 like-colors at a time.
Now- she also shows cards that have been collaged and the string/fiber has been added as part of the design without covering it all in color. So - it's up to you!

Use fun foam shapes to make a collage on your project (the colors don't matter because...)
Cover the whole project with gesso.
Pounce on acrylic paint. (assuming you let it dry here)
Over-stamp with a large rubber stamp using quick-drying pigment ink. Maybe add some ephemera or stickers...
Die cut shapes from thick cardstock will give you the same effect.
(transfers are next week...)

Ok, this sounds really messy and fun. I just wrapped the fiber around afterward last time so this time, I'll try the first way!

I used watercolors instead of acrylic paint - because I am so limited in my acrylic paint colors! Had to keep wiping the paint off the prints.
You could use chipboard letters or grungeboard pieces instead of fun foam, too.

I did some of the fun foam ones way back when - just because it seemed one of the less intimidating techniques to me. But I didn't actually go out and buy any fun foam. I already had foam sheets on hand and used my Sizzix to cut out some different shapes. Unfortunately it doesn't work with the wafer-thin dies like the sizzlits, but the original dies will cut that foam with perfect ease.

I don't have any examples to show, because I think I gave most of them to Holly last October. But I really had a good time making them.
