Michelle Ward Crusades #1
Michelle Ward Crusades #1
Over the weekend, I revisited Michelle Ward's blog and decided to go back to the very beginning of her Crusades. I eventually got there and decided to try and do them all.
Here is the first Crusade-make something spooky, funky or crazy on a tag. I don't have any of her stamps to do something Halloween-ish so I used the dragon stamp from firecrackerdesigns by Pamela, text stamp from CS and Tim's tree over gessoed text. Painted the dragon with Lumiere paints and acrylics mixed with luminscent medium and Pearl Ex. the gesso is actually much whiter in real life, not pinkish.
Anyone want to join me on this adventure? Could be fun!
Hopefully this is the link to the start of the Crusades.

Re: Michelle Ward Crusades #1
Thanks very much! Glad you like it. It's really kind of ugly but it IS supposed to be scary.
IMHO, the earlier Crusades are not as interesting as some of the later ones which are more technique based. I've only looked at the earliest few pages where they seem to be more theme based. #2 is what music were you listening to in Nov. 2006 when the second Crusade was on. #3 might be kind of fun-design the tattoo of your dreams or if you have actual tattoos then do an art journal page about them.
Her focus is very much on art journaling but I am going to do big tags. That's less threatening than a large blank paper. I can write on the back and make them into a book later if I want.
I'd love to have company on this Crusade. What do you say?

Re: Michelle Ward Crusades #1
I'm blaming my temporary forgetfullness on sitting out on the soccer field for 2 days under the hot sun. I used to go to her site all the time until some helpful person in my house erased all my bookmarks.
Re: Michelle Ward Crusades #1
Thanks, Luanne!
I've been wanting Michelle Ward's art talent when I grow up since Luanne sent the link to her Properties of Gesso Crusade late last year. I don't know why we all didn't pursue the Crusades then, too much new going on at the PAO then, I guess. I think we got into the whole Tim tag thing in December.
Anyway, I figured out what I'm doing for the second (music of 2006) Crusade. I told DD about the tattoo Crusade #3 and she sooo helpfully sent me tattoos for knitters and sewers! They were really tacky! Hummm, but I suppose I could pay tribute to my dead 28 year old Elna machine and have it tattooed on my chest!
