Detail disappears, but I now have a very pretty background of blended colors. If you try this --be sure to place a protection on your ironing board, as the black ink runs off and stains the area.

Ok-- I do want to enter this, and obviously I need way more tries to get a picture , so I will enter this one. The background is the transferred color from the glossy photo, detail runs off the page, but I do like the blended background. So I chose another photo and cut out the image and used it on the background. Like I said, need way more time to work on this, maybe I will get something better tomorrow.

I like how the colors ran together for the background.

This can be a frustrating technique. I am glad so many of you are trying

I wash thinking it looks almost like a watercolor wash.

It would have been a little bit less grunge, but I had to try a second photo on it before I would really give up, and there was a lot of dark in the photo.

So here is what I learned, Pick light colored pics with little black or dark, and they make nice blended backgrounds. If you pick dark photos (which means lots of black ink) they are just a mess and yucky! I actually washed my 2nd try off, and just a little residue remained to make the grunge effect.

Here is my effort for this challenge. Not sure if it 'me', but I gave it my best. :D I agree with Holly that the pics make a big difference. I tossed a couple, and finally realized that this was as good as it was going to get!!!

Thanks, I did the packing tape transfer. I will try the medium transfer later, but this was enough for me this weekend!!

Ruth Ann, what is the advantage of the gel medium method? Faster, easier, different effect, less messy?????

It came out great Paula

what I discovered with the gel medium transfers is that you not so limited by size. Packing tape is only so wide and unless you do multiple pieces side by side (shoot me) you can only use a small pic.
