Here are my best attempts. Others ended up in the trashcan-textured paper doesn't work very well for the overall inking. Nor does glossy paper.
I used Aleene's Tacky glue and it dried very quickly so that was good.

I agree. The texture paper pieces I did were immediate trash. This is definitely a trial and error technique.

Coming in close to the wire-- but I did so want to work on this challenge, and time got away from me. I colored in focal stamp as it was getting lost in background.
