Hellmuth rinse aid release technique.....
Hellmuth rinse aid release technique.....
As I've been saying, I'm fascinated with Claudine's work and finally got the rinse aid release to work! Just needed the right paper and I wasn't watering down my acrylics enough....

Not at all once I figured out what I was doing wrong...use CANVAS PAPER, really water down your acrylics for first layer of color, paint whole piece and drop your dishwasher rinsing aid stuff onto the paint while wet...let dry (naturally, or with heat gun) and wipe over rinse aid areas with damp paper towel...all color should release...then apply second color of watered acrylics to white areas, and repeat the process to leave some white space.....
Re: Hellmuth rinse aid release technique.....
very pretty Ruth Ann! Is that an ATC size or a larger piece of paper?
Re: Hellmuth rinse aid release technique.....
this is now ATC size since i cut it after doodling around with it. I cut my canvas paper in maybe a 4 x 4 piece to experiment so I don't ruin a bunch of paper.
Re: Hellmuth rinse aid release technique.....
Ok thanks for responding so quickly-- It just helps to know the size to get the proper perspective on it.

Re: Hellmuth rinse aid release technique.....
so Ruth Ann.
I copied your directions (don't have the book)
and of course me being me I jumped in with both feet and did a 9x12 sheet.
At first I was very-eh, it's so so
then I cut it up into ATC pieces.
LOVE it. It looks very cool.
now you have to take my word for it because
A/ I forgot to take pics of the before & after
&B/ the backgrounds are for my cards in the St Patrick's Day swap
Any way--thanks for the heads up on something new

Re: Hellmuth rinse aid release technique.....
You bet, ladies...you know I can't keep anything quiet!!!!! Will share techniques as I ffigure them out....
Re: Hellmuth rinse aid release technique.....
Christy, I did find that the paint needs to be VERY watery and wet when the rinse aid is applied for it to really bleach out.
Re: Hellmuth rinse aid release technique.....
when you say rinse aid you're talking about the stuff like Jet Dry?
