All you in the snow zone, stay safe and warm! Bobbie, hope you're OK!

wow...what a day! Thanks everyone I spoke to my DH on the way home, tonight. (He is in Rolla, MO) I was telling him that the best way to describe the city is "beautiful war zone". We had freezing rain all night and up until 10:30am. Then, the hugest snowflakes I've ever seen started falling! I swear to you that the flakes were at least an inch and a half round! Within 2 hours, we had 4 inches of snow overing all the ice.
When I got in, this morning, I had broken trees blocking both sides of the driveway into the property. No sooner than we got those moved, more trees fell. This went ALL day. At 3:45 this afternoon, one of the resident's guests were driving onto the property and a limb fell right on the hood of her car! We have 5 large medians that run the length of our long driveway and 75% of the flowering ornamental trees, in them are now damaged, along with the, approximately 50 knock out rose bushes. We also have about 40 cedar trees surrounding the property that sustained heavy damage.
The amazing thing is that we never lost power, no one was hurt and we were able to get all the residents to move their vehicles from under the trees so, no vehicles got damaged.
I know there are places that get this kind of weather on a regular basis but, this is a first for me and Lexington hasn't had a storm like this since 2003 (I didn't live here, then).
I can hardly wait till DH gets home with the camera cord. You guys are going to drop your jaws when you see all these pics. lol

I saw the news and it looks horrible! We have had minus 33 this week and today finally got up to 32 so felt like a heatwave! C'mon spring!!! I am so sick of winter.
Re: Ice, Ice and more Ice...followed by incoming snow
Well, my sister is without power. Luckily, my aunt is nearby with power so my sister is staying there.
Re: Ice, Ice and more Ice...followed by incoming snow
Stay warm everyone....I'll send some of our heatwave

Erin - I had to laugh when I read your post and then looked at your pictures. You said that you're not really snowed in but it looks like about 9" of snow on the table and yard. That much snow here and you wouldn't see us for a week! The entire county would be paralyzed. LOL.
Bobbie - I hate ice storms. When they happen, we can stand in the yard and the breaking trees sound like gun shots - each one just goes straight through me (especially since I'm the one who's done 99% of the tree pruning here). Be safe.
