Pat - I loooove your "wacky" card! The mid-century illustrations remind me of the Dick and Jane books that most of us baby boomers learned to read by.

Elizabeth - Your hearts are WONDERFUL!

I received beautiful cards from Jill and Elizabeth, thank you.

Pam, Glad you liked the wacky card! I will turn 67 (!) in May. I know of the Dick and Jane books, but do not recall reading them.

You missed a treat by not having that reader! When my grandchildren came to live with me, Maddie could not read at even a 1st grade level. Somehow she had been promoted to the 4th grade, and that simply illustrates the state of education in the county they lived. :censor: I purchased a Dick and Jane book at WalMart (yes, they were still in print 13 years ago!) and taught her to read with that book. By the end of the school year she was one of the top readers in her school. That little book still works! (See Jane run. Run, Jane, run. See Spot run. Run, Spot, run. )

BTW, Miss Maddie has been accepted at Western Carolina University and will be moving to the mountains for the fall semester. She put herself through completing her GED and 2 years of community college while working full time and volunteering as a docent at one of the historical sites in Wilmington. So proud of this young lady! Her stubborn independent streak, while infuriating me, has stood her well. Guess she's just one of those people who has to do it her way.

I received what Pat is calling her "wacky"
Valentine card. Nothing wacky about it.
I love the vintage feel of it and I think it could
be one of those cards that can be used either way
inside out/outside in.

I think I have that vintage Valentine image
on my computer somewhere.

Gwen's very pretty card arrived today!

My son was curious as to who was sending me V'day cards. I think he felt a little better after he looked at the signatures. ;)

I received Gwen's card, thank you, and now my craft room is a bit festive.

Pam, you gotta be proud of Maddie! Sometimes the road is not straight, but we end up in the right place at the end. I marvel at people who take this path, no matter if it was planned or not.
