Pam - I've been watching for updates on FB and even checked in here over the past week as I've been able. I'm so glad to hear that you're home. You and Joel have been in my thoughts every day.

Hello dear friends.
Joel is on continuous dialysis now and his blood pressure is tolerating it. They had stopped the paralytics and monitoring his sedation carefully to keep him comfortable and not fight the ventilator. He’s holding his own “but still very critically ill.”
I feel so very blessed to be recovering steadily. Having my kids and grandkids here is just the best. When it’s too quiet, my fears wants to take over and there’s nothing good that comes from that.
I know I keep saying it but I mean it from the bottom of my heart, your friendship, love, support, and prayers mean all the world to us.

I’m watching the clock waiting a few more minutes before I try for an update.
Joel remains on a ventilator in ICU. Still getting continuous dialysis. The doctor told me “we just don’t have success treating people over 60 who get this sick…his prognosis is very very poor…if he can avoid another set back over the next 48 hours - well - that would be very telling…”
He doesn’t want to wake up right now but his head CT showed no problems.
His sinus infection ended up being fungal (decades of sinus problems). That really complicated his situation.
Every day, I’m told about miraculous healing. Every day, I get a message that more people are praying for a miracle for him and covering the staff caring for him.
I’m recovering slowly but surely. Joel’s sister is struggling to avoid being readmitted but her husband is home now. It’s been a month.

Joel passed away this morning. Cara and I were at his side and Chris was there via internet.
You all have been so kind. Thank you for all the prayers.
