new to you: product, technique, format

Post by Keitha »

As I look forward to getting back to my craft table in a couple weeks, I thought it would be fun to share some things that we've seen recently that are new to us and we want to try. It can be a technique, product that's new or you've not used in a specific way before, or a format you're ready to have a go at.
I recently watched this video using texture paste and TH Embossing Glaze. I want to try crackle paste through a stencil, and have yet to try the embossing glaze which I did buy one jar of:

one technique that I'm ready to try is using the deco foil
transfer gel duo, to do foiling without using a heated laminator
just a die cutting machine for pressure.
Here's the deco foil short video about the process

Those sound like they would be fun.

I did try paste through a stencil.
It looked so good.

Great idea Keitha and nice that you’ll have some time to do some crafting and experimenting.

I’ve got a small stack of “foilables” that came with Brutus Monroe inspiration kits. They are ready to foil and I’d like to see what I can do with them without a heating device. I watch Cassie Trask (great on youtube) use her laminator but I guess that too is heat. Worth a try using a Gemini/BigShot etc. Now to find some foil...I know I have some somewhere.

That's a great idea to try Elizabeth. I've got lots of foil that I never seem to do anything with; I'm going to check out your video. Thanks for sharing.

I tried a sample with IndigoBlu Flitter Glu, which I used for metallic flake use. It is thin, so using it was not ideal. The sample I tried it with was Flocked paper. The transfer with my Big Shot was great! With that said, I order some of the Deco Foil duo transfer medium. Thanks for the heads up Elizabeth.

I'm going to have to make time to try it out.
I got the product sitting on my desk just waiting
for me to open it up. LOL

I bought the new accessory for the Cricut machine...the foiling tips. Haven't tried them yet, but they are non heat. For the $35, it wasn't too big an investment. :?

Oh, Pat! I’m intrigued. I resisted, but am so curious about it. I have a Heidi Swapp Minc and although I don’t use it too much, but I do love the effect. Let me know how you like the Cricut foil transfer.

I have a small Anna Griffin Minc machine that is very lonely. Haven't used in a long time. Wasn't happy with those already to foil doo dads that you could buy. We shall see how these foil tips work.

I've now watched the foiling video, and have bookmarked it for when I get home. I remember my very first time using gilding flakes; I was a fairly new scrapper in the early 2000's and it was a technique in a page class. We used a wet glue that had Duo in the name - I probably still have some, LOL. Don't recall the brand, although I think it was a Canadian company. Foiling is definitely something I need to play with more at home - I've certainly got what I need.

Cricut foil tips work relatively well. User error is possible. Have to remember you want to foil, not cut. I will continue to practice.

This is medium point, almost perfect. Not sure if this is a keeper tool.
