Primary election day in my neighborhood

Post by EDelValle »

I try to get out to vote in every election
and we had our primaries on Tuesday here
in Brooklyn. We had been given the opportunity
to use mail in or early voting for this election
but early voting didn't work out for me and just
by chance Tuesday morning I had to get my car out of the
overnight parking spot by 7 AM (I am NOT a morning person)
so I got to vote on my way to work, we didn't really get very
much political mail and I knew who I wanted to vote for
so I really wasn't paying too much attention to who was
actually running other than my candidates.
Well, I got my paper ballot and went over to the little stand to check off
my candidates and running against my candidate for the
United States House of Representatives was a person with the name,
I swear this is true, Paperboy Love Prince.
I must have stared at that name for a good 15 seconds, I thought
it must be a joke. But unfortunately, that is the name of a person
who is actually according to his bio online (I had to look him up)
a rapper and performance artist who changed his given name to
that.and 19% of the people that voted that line in the primary,
voted for him I think I'm getting too old for some of the stuff that's
going on today :)

I agree with Kathy! Crazy times, indeed!! That needs to be documented. And, who knows, he might have been a great choice in comparison to some who are in office now!

Oops - I just learned that Paperboy is non-binary (had to look that up, too) so I should have said "they" might have been a good choice.

I don't even recognize this country anymore - it's not the one that I've lived in all of my life.
