Cheryl, both cards are lovely but I particularly like the sympathy card; it's very understated and elegant.

I had seen this technique ages ago and ordered the embossing folder but never got around to trying it. This one is a bit rough but practice makes perfect, so I'll definitely be trying it again soon.

Amazing pieces, I'm so excited I want to try all
of your different uses of the embossing folders

Keitha, your cards came out amazing, did you stamp
on to the embossed background or did you stamp the flowers
and cut them out to place on the backgrounds?

Pam, how did you get the leafy trees behind the tree trunks

I'm going to search for that Stamping Up folder used on the sympathy card
it is so elegant looking, would that be a magnolia?

And I really like the way the embossing folder gave the base paper of
the scrapbook page some texture without bulk, great idea

I wish I wern't at work, so I could go play

Background color rolled on with a brayer. Then stamped the trees. You stamp and brayer the "flat" side, or in this case - the side that has Sizzix on the outside of the folder.

Pam that's a lovely card. Thanks for explaining how it was done; I was about to ask as well. I've coloured my folders before but not stamped on them. What kind of ink did you use for the stamping?
Elizabeth, I die-cut the flowers and added them to the embossed backgrounds.

I wanted something that would clean off easily so I used TH Distress since they're water soluble. I screwed up in that I didn't put the smooth side of the WC paper down, so next time I'll watch for that.

Does anyone use the squishy pad for embossing folders? I always use my regular acrylic plates but have considered buying the squishy one. (Yes, I could look up the real name but...)

I own a 'squishy' pad because at some point I had to have it; of course by the time it arrived the moment had passed and I've never used it. My understanding is that it allows you to emboss with your dies, rather than cut - but it probably does other things as well. Maybe we need a challenge to use those specifically - and maybe I should rein in my Muse who comes out with these things!

Ohhh - I think I remember that now and that's why I don't own one. I knew there had to be a reason.

I got a couple of embossing folders out today. First I painted the water-colour paper and then embossed them, well the purple one ended up being de-bossed as I put it wrong side up in the folder. :P I rubbed them over with Distress ink and finished them off with a stamped sentiment, die-cut butterflies and Stickles.
