I'm working some magic!! more magic!!

So... I've been busy writing emails to companies.... toy companies, pet supply companies, book publishers... hoping to get a response and get some donations of things for Ocracoke and some for Hatteras...

Mattel is the first to come through... for real.... they're sending me:

100 Barbie fashionista
100 Hot Wheels sets
100 Uno games
100 Crayon sets
100 Marker sets



I'm doing a little of that bouncing in my seat!!
So that's maybe $4000 to $5000 worth of super fun stuff!!! I'm ecstatic!!

Once they get here, I'll be posting photos and I'll put it out there on FB... but just want it to be a secret from those families until delivery time

That’s wonderful! I feel like the US has ignored the devastation there.
Maybe it’s because I don’t watch mainstream news? Even my coworker didn’t know about it.

Debi, you’re going to make a lot of kids really happy. I’ve thought about the little boy who was selling shells the first time we went. He was so proud of the town’s library. And the cemetery!

This delivery will go to the fire station.... a ton of other donations are going to the Lifeline Outreach building and then they get loaded up on whatever vehicles are going over to Ocracoke.

I know we're nuts for living out here... but there's a sense of community on these islands that I haven't been able to trade in for another location. Not sure I want to keep living through hurricanes... but for right now, this is why I live here.

We're getting pet supplies too!!

I had worked through a couple channels and connected with Greater Good and they work with these folks. A truck this size is coming to Hatteras Island tomorrow. One of the vets in the county had the same idea. And another truck will be going to Ocracoke next week!!
