Request for cards

Post by nchoney »

Not sure if you'd see this in the Dorian thread so popping it here too.

Wanted to put an idea in your heads. If you have some generic cards or “thinking of you” cards in your stashes, it’s be awesome if you could send some with a little note and maybe just your first name signed. We’ll see that they get distributed to families whose homes were damaged or destroyed in this flooding. You can send them to me and we’ll make sure they get sent down with supplies.

Mike actually thought of this. He has good ideas sometimes.

I put my nose to the grindstone this afternoon and evening and grabbed supplies I could reach and made cards. 62 of them. Nothing super fancy. I had a pad of 36 card bases and then had 26 card fronts with blends of distress oxides that I was going to use for something else but I'll just make more. I'll post some pics tomorrow.

I can't crank out 62 cards, but I'm working on some this morning and will get them out to you either later today or tomorrow morning.

Is there a deadline for receiving cards Debi? I am a bit late seeing this.

Debi, do you want the cards in envelopes?

Right now I don't have any deadline.... the villages on our island will be cleaning and refurbishing for a few months, I'm sure.... Ocracoke island will be rebuilding for more months... they'll need all the encouragement we can send.

They don't need to be in individual envelopes.... they'll be handed to people by our firefighters while they're working with them

And no.... I don't expect anyone to make 62 cards... one or two is wonderful... and if you have any in your stash... simple is good :-)

And maybe add a line inside about where you're from.... just the state/country would be nice... so they know they're being thought about from outside of NC, too.... it just helps to know people care! We feel isolated out here much of the time.

So thoughtful Debi. I’ll see first what is in my stash that would be appropriate and also make some simple ones.

I had a pad of cards... polka dots and chevrons.... added a sentiment and doodads that I'd gotten in various swaps, I think... and then the ink-blended fronts... added sentiment and ribbon and called 'em done....

:-o Oh Debi!!! For quick cards these are outstanding! And seeing these I realize would be a great way to not only use up already cut dies but also 6X6 prints for mattes. Awesome! Who knows, I may be able to match your 62...maybe not but it will be fun trying.
