Finished......At Last!

Post by katymjo »

It is our Quilt Show next weekend. I hadn't got much to show this time, so that gave me the incentive to get this quilt finished. I must have started making the blocks 25 years ago when I was teaching patchwork at the Village Hall. The large central square comes from the book Pattern Play by Doreen Speckman.

Kathryn, this is lovely. I really like the soft pink with the bold navy.

Excellent!!! So lovely. I can see why you taught patchwork. :cool5:

Boy, I could use a tutor for making quarter square triangles to make an Ohio Star Square. I am soo close to getting it right! But, I digress...

That center square really is unusual. I like it a lot and your leaves quilted around the edge.

Pat, have you looked at videos on youtube for QSTs? There are lots of tuts and charts for sizes if you google them.

I have watched Nancy Zieman's demo, and did learn a good tip. I also bought a book by Patty Murphy titled "Piecing Makeover." I took a class about piecing small things. That was interesting. The teacher thought I was doing well. I think my issues are precise piecing and that exact seam allowance. Practice makes perfect, and I will try again until It's worthy of closer inspection...like 5 feet! Ha Ha Ha.
I will check youtube as well.

That scant 1/4" can be pesky and hard to capture!
