Book Lover’s Birthday Card

Post by paddlegal »

Charley asked me to make a card for his friend and law school classmate Hannah’s birthday. Her husband sent him a photo of her book collection....walls of books. As a law student I don’t know when she has time to read anything other than law books. Maybe because she is a school librarian by day. Anyway I used an old Simon Says Stamp set of individual books. All of the stamps are from that set minus the CTMH happy birthday. Everything was stamped in Catherine Pooler Spa Ink collection. I used a blender pen to shade the words. Thank goodness for Tim’s stamp platform. Each book is a separate stamp. Charley was impressed, LOL...and appreciative.

I also made two bookmarks. These are photos of antique book spines that I then cut individually.

There's a Farley envelope waiting for me at home... :-)

That card is terrific... and I especially like the shading on the letters... good technique to give a try.. thanks for the inspiration!

It's perfect!! I totally agree about the stamp platform. I actually enjoy stamping now that I have that nifty tool.

Thanks everyone! It was a hit with her.

Debi, the shading is really fun using water based inks and a regular blending pen/brush. I have two kinds, Tombow and Koi. I found the Koi Coloring Brush Pen worked the best. That sentiment really lent itself to this technique.
