30 day color challenge

Post by Monica »

This month there's a 30 day color challenge I'm doing on the Kindred Stamps FB group. And I thought maybe you'd all like to see what I've done thus far. I sort of got out of the habit of coloring and have mainly been collecting, so I'm using this challenge to remind myself how much I enjoy coloring. It only takes 20 minutes or so to do one and cut it out, and when the month is done I'll also have several cards made from them.

Disgust's dress, shoes and scarf in the second photo have Opal Polish added, as do the memory balls in the third photo. Gives it a nice sheen that's a pain in the derriere to photograph! Oh, and the background for the pixie and castle was done with a stencil and Metallic Gilding Polish. So far I'm enjoying the results of playing with them, and they clean up easily from surfaces.

ETA: Basic coloring was done with my Distress markers, and the images were stamped on watercolor paper with India ink after I discovered that Memento bleeds a tad...

I really like them Monica! Do you plan to do the whole 30 days?

I do! I actually did the 4th and 5th both on the 5th because I had a bad allergy episode on the 4th and was doped to the gills and too fuzzy to focus, but I'm enjoying it. And experimenting with the Distress markers too. I may switch to colored pencils for a few, but mainly it'll stay Distress markers and maybe watercolors.

Added Sadness to the lineup, which gives me all five. Now to set them aside and work on something else next....

I love those blues.
What does it say about me that I can relax watching other people paint/color and it stresses me to do it myself (perfectionism, just a tad)?

I was just thinking that all 5 of those look like the moods that hit me every time I login to FB.

I've been letting the perfection of people with Copics get to me, so this is me just remembering that I can color my way and it still looks good. I get very intimidated by the stunning looks some achieve with Copics in that FB group, but they've all been saying nice things about everyone's coloring and showing off boo-boos too, which helps me get over myself.

Today was all about the Scottish princess. Merida is joined by a couple wisps. Her skin is colored pencils, the rest of her Distress markers. The wisps were done with Lavender Blue Opal Polish.

Switched to the house from Up! today, due to needing something colorful with minimal thought after the council meeting. Glossy accents on some balloons, the rest Distress markers.
