gilding wax, gilding paste, gilding polish

Post by Monica »

Given that we have some mixed media people on the board, I assume at least one of you have tried either gilding wax or gilding paste? I bought some colors several years back but the stuff dried out on me and I was annoyed at the money wasted.

The Cosmic Shimmer line... yes, the same ones with the gilding flakes I got Keitha hooked on... also make what they call gilding polish, which from the videos I've watched on YouTube looks to be a must more user-friendly option for me. So I ordered a couple colors to play with and we'll see.

I bought gliding wax from Crafter’s Companion and learned a tiny bit goes a long ways. I got red and green and it’s real creamy feeling.

I have the wax. I've found that even if it looks dry, it still will work. At least mine did.

Intrigued. This sounds like a product I used many years ago but can't remember the name of it. Several small pots of colored metallic paste that could be applied on just about anything to “antique” things.

I’ve got a spiced mocha latte in my hands so I’ll go watch your videos.

I’m back after watching the two videos. Cool product! Not what I was earlier thinking of. Reminds me though of the Nuvo Mousse a little...which some of my colors have dried out. But how brilliant that each pot has it’s own applicator! I could see using this product a lot...darn! Good demos of the product too. I subscribed to that YouTube channel now. Oh dear.

What cracked me up is how that guy kept his white cuffs clean!

 He did, didn't he, Farley? And I really like the idea of the applicators with each pot so I don't have to get my fingers dirty, because I have enough problems with accidentally getting inky fingers on stuff as it is!

Pam, mine dried out to a hard rock. There was no way I could use them at all, and when I contacted the company they said that the older formula does that and offered to sell me replacements in the new colors. I declined.

Debbie, I'm glad your gilding wax still works well!

I agree.... maybe we need a challenge to use some product we haven't used in a loooooong time... or have never used! That would help... but... I'm not buying new products!! LOL

Though I don’t need any new products...WHERE are you purchasing the Creative Expressions goo? I was hoping there is a US site but it’s really hit or miss from what I’ve found. Maybe one color available at Walmart and crazy expensive on Amazon and poor choices.

But then...I don’t need any new products.
