Facebook Page - Updated Info

Post by pbp908 »

I've scheduled the Facebook page to self destruct in 14 days.

I've done this for several reasons.
1. We really don't use it. There are very few posts to it and it's been underutilized.
2. I'm admin for the page, and for whatever reason FB has decided that all of my posts to my personal page need to go onto the PAO page. A certain non-entity (as far as I'm concerned) made a very scathing remark about it before I realized what was happening. Now before I post on my page I have to jump through hoops to make sure that's the only place they're posting.

If someone else would care to create a PAO FB page, please do. I've tried to remove myself from the page as administrator but evidently I set the dratted thing up and the only way to leave it is to delete it. A new page would have to be created after this one is gone, so 2 weeks.

Hope everyone understands. I prefer to not do anything that would jeopardize the public face of PAO, and since a lot of my posts are political and strictly my opinion, I think we'd all agree that we need to keep politics away from the forum.

It was a good idea but you’re right, we don’t use it. We can all use less stress in our lives. Destruct away!

Pull. The. Plug.

It’s hard to share the same things with the same people on two different platforms. StampNation recently went that way and I think it’s confusing a lot of people plus it’s repetitive.

Thanks for making the effort Pam and sorry it’s caused you unpleasantness.

I echo the rest. And if in the future we decide to create a new one, the first step to take would be to create an entirely new FB account under PAO. I've done that to create my city's FB page.

Yep.... what Monica said.... there are ways to make a FB page for an organization rather than tie it to a person... so if we need it in the future, we can go that route...

Elizabeth, I'm with you, I didn't even know there was a facebook page for PAO.

I totally understand your reasoning for "destructing", Pam. I've been there, done that - not fun

I agree. While your concern about the public face of PAO is valid, I think it's worse for us to have a public presence and ignore it than not to use it at all; if someone truly interested in the group stumbled on our under-utilized page they'd have no idea how dynamic a community we are. I'm happy not to have a FB page to worry about - not, apparently, that I ever did!
Thanks Pam, for your efforts in creating and dealing with it.

Well, that didn't last long, did it???

The new FB page is up and I've invited everyone that's on my friends list who I know are active to join. I can't see the stupid thing as myself, so I don't know if people can request to join or if anyone else can invite people. If you can, please send invitations to the page - the more the merrier. I've noticed that I'm getting ads for the page on my feed, so evidently FB is giving it a little free advertising right now. It does allow for cross posting, so if you post a piece of work on another FB page please cross post on ours. When I've got time to explore a little further I'll try to add more things to it. Meanwhile I'm trying to figure out how to add another person or persons as admin! The last page was NOT this big a pain in the rear.
