Agreeing with everyone. Fabulous paintings but that macadamia plant is amazing! I enlarged it on my iPad so I could see the details and it is so well done Marianne. I hope this is going to be framed. I recognize that textured green card stock but I’m blanking out on the kit. I’m sure I have some. Was it from that African style kit that had giraffes and elephants? A long ago kit.

Yes, that's it! I took a bunch of random mat size pieces of paper and glued them along the edge years ago to make a little book. Finally using them for this little project. There are even some printed papers.

I'll be catching up now for the past few days since Robin was visiting over the weekend.

Thanks for your kind comments.

I'm catching up today after Robin's visit. Here are the 6th, 7th and 8th. I'm going to put three in a message so there aren't 30 messages.

Sep 6 The little islands we see from our windows, Woody Island in the background and Round Island in the foreground where there is a remnant of coral reef.

We bought a bag of tomatoes by the side of the road for $2 which is about $1.50 US. This is only part of them.

It’s an honor, Marianne, to know such an accomplished artist. Fabulous...all 3. And yes, I could look at those islands all day also.

You are being much too kind, Farley but thank you. YOU are a cardmaking artist.

The view of sea and sky is constantly changing. A funny thing we saw today was several Pelicans that looked like they were herding Little Black Cormorants. They often all hang out together.

Sep 9

There are two of these house plant things in the apartment. I like how the light hits the ribbed baskets.

This sailboat went by one day and that sail was not something you see every day so I took a picture. It wasn't until I zoomed into the photo that I could read the name, HOLY COW!
Using masking fluid to block out background areas is fun.

We went to the Botanic Garden one morning and this duck was giving his/her feet a very thorough cleaning. It's interesting to find something to put on the colored papers in this little book I made. I have to use this turquoise paper for the next few days but it was good for reflecting the sky in the pond. I painted the duck on white paper then cut it out and glued it on.

They’re all wonderful but the water around the duck fascinates me. If I had the talent in your little finger...

You really are very talented, Marianne. You're going to have a wonderful little book to remember this trip.

Thanks, Pam, using masking fluid meant I could cover the turquoise paper and paint over it and then rub off the masking fluid to get those lines (ripples in the water) that reflect the sky around the duck.

But there is nothing like the real thing in person with the reflections, the movement of the water and the duck, then a photo captures a bit of it and then paints are just a reminder of what I saw.
