Homemade Wreath Builder With Cards

Post by paddlegal »

I hadn’t really paid that much attention to the wreath builder template that has been so popular but yesterday I watched Jennifer McGuire’s video using one. I took a close look at what she was using and thought, “wait...I can make one myself”! And I did! On my KNK. But if you have a simple square die that’s about 4 inches square you can make one also.

The wreath builder is nothing more than two identical size squares with one laid over the other 90 degrees off of the other. See my photo bellow of my homemade one and I think you will see what I saw. So after making the template last night and made 2 wreaths! This is a lot of fun!

These are the two I made and I hope today to dress these up for cards and make more of them. It’s very addictive and so many stamps can be used to make a wreath. This works best in a stamp positioner like MISTI or Tim Holtz’s large stamp platform which is what I used.

Oh, Farley, those are beautiful! Now I have to go watch the video because I have absolutely no idea how you did that. Please be sure to show us the final cards.

Thanks Sue!

Here’s a link to Jennifer’s video and she has a link of course to GinaK’s wreath builder.

Here are the cards. Not crazy about them as cards. I liked them better as is.

The sentiments are embossed with clear powder. The green sentiment is just Versamark and clear embossing powder. I meant to use purple ink and forgot, LOL. The bright pink dots are actually white Nuvo Drops but it soaked up the lavender color of the flower and turned pink!

This is a fun method and something different to do with our stamps. I’ll be making more.

Great minds think alike.... but I've got to work on the settings for my Silhouette to cut through real stencil material... I tried cutting one last night but it didn't go all the way through

You did a great job on those cards, too!! This is definitely a fun way to breathe more life into our stamps!

Watched the video, made my template (from a 4" square die) and gave it a go. So Much Fun! And so much easier than it looks. I want to try the one that isn't actually a wreath, but starts in the corner and cascades down the card.

Farley, your cards are beautiful. Thank you so much for showing us this. I had seen the post on Jennifer's blog, but wasn't intrigued until I saw your samples.

(I used Flora & Fauna Tropical Vibes stamps and Distress Oxide Inks)

Sue I love it! I really like how thick it looks with all the leafy images you added. And of course the flamingo is perfect. So glad the die method worked for you.

Debi I cut my template out on Staples brand card stock. I think it works well because it’s thicker and helps hold the square you’re stamping on in place but it’s not too thick to hamper the stamping.

I made one using a piece of transparency. Someone please refresh my memory as to WHY we all needed that??? Anyway, tried it, it works, but my stamps are too darned big. Must have smaller flowers! (In other words, shopping!)

Why you needed transparencies? Shaker cards. Making depth on a card using that as a layer. And because all the other cool kids bought some?
