50th Anniversary Card - Altered the Cover - And a Tag!

I spent hours (truly) making this card for our friend to give to his wife tomorrow for their 50th anniversary. He hadn’t done anything yet as if 3:30 today! Bob only learned of this after they spent the day together attempting to go to his ranch up in the mountains which they didn’t even get to because the single track road was too icy and turned around. His wife mentioned about the anniversary not the husband. Bob being the sentalmentalist and knowing that this was not going to go well called me and asked me to get started on a card for husband to give to wife. Ay yi yi!!!

So after thinking and rejecting several ideas I did this twist pop card using Echo Park papers collection “wedding bliss”. Ironic, yes? We’ll go tomorrow with a gift for both of them (oh crud I need to make a card) and I’ll slip this card to him to write something on the heart. I am not joking about taking all night to make this. But I’m pretty happy with the results.

The folded out photo wouldn’t shrink enough when resizing but you’ll get the idea. The card base is a matte gold not kraft like it looks in photos.

I fell alsleep thinking about the cover and realized I didn’t like that “Swiss cheese” look. Plus I wanted to add a “50th”. So up early this morning I doctored the cover with a heart already made and created the 50th on my KNK. Made 3 to glue together to give it some heft. Thank goodness I’m not mailing this. Weighs o ton. If it had been possible I would have completely removed the tiny heart background. I hate it when I rethink cards once they’re done. But I think this is an improvement.

Looks good! I actually like your 'swiss cheese' hearts - they didn't look like that to me at all. Nice to see them still in the background.

I vasilated about how much to cover it up. But just the 50th was lost on them. Over-thinking...my card making nemesis.

Thanks everyone for your great comments.

And finally our little gift for them. Heritage Oak Winery Petite Sirah. Instead of a card this simple wine tag will have to do. I didn’t realize at the time I was creating a pun. All stamps are from Julie Ebersole’s New Year’s set...worked great for this too.
