Jill root beer sodas was the first thing I thought of when I saw your title! My mom would make them for us in the summer...my brother and I loved them. I can call up the taste and aroma of a black cow with no problem.

And great, fun LO too!

No root beer here in the UK, but we did have Dandelion and Burdock. Similar colour!!
That's a beautiful Autumn kit, love the big green swirl.
Kathryn.

I haven't had a Black Cow in years! There's also a Brown Cow. I love both of them and now I want to make one.

We called them black cows, too. We also made a cream soda float from Barq'S which was red for some reason. When I moved to CA and all cream soda was yellow or Ale colored, that was new to me. Barq's a cream soda was a favorite of mine. Anyone else in my region???

Perfect kit for that, Jill.

Don't remember hearing them called Black Cows. I don't like root beer but do love a coke float made the same way. My husband and kids like root beer floats.

My grandmother waited tables at an A&W, back in the day when they had car hops, and yet I have never heard a root beer float called a black cow. Learn something new every day!

Love the layout! I especially love that flourish element. I'm forever looking for just the right die in the perfect flourish shape, but can't ever find anything exactly right. Wish I could find one like the one on your layout.

I'm with you, Carol. Coke floats all the way. And, of course, now I've discovered beer floats and I love one with a good Stout.

I liked black cows but my favorite was a 7Up float with chocolate ice cream we would make. They reminded me of the chocolate sodas I sometimes got at the old drug store soda fountain counter in my home town. How's that for dating myself?

A&W root beer floats were awesome too. Those were the days. This got me and Bob reminiscing over floats and sodas.

Sorry! Totally not the intent! My grandmother is in her late 80s (and is still a total spitfire). I know you're nowhere near her age. But my point was that if anyone in my life would have ever referred to a float as a black cow, it would have been her, but I'd never heard the expression.
