We were at 70% eclipse up here in North Bay. No noticeable difference in the daylight, nor in the photo I took with my phone using the front facing camera so I had my back to the sun; I would have needed some kind of special filter I think to see the partial moon crossing over.

For those of you scrapping the eclipse, Elle's Studio has some free printables that look quite nice.

Rob's specially built camera filter did a nice job of capturing the event at our house. Here are a few pics that he took from our back deck.

Deb, great to see you and Mike in "Eclipse Mode".
Julie, what professional-looking photos, Rob caught it perfectly.

Wonderful photos, Julie. We had an absolutely gorgeous day in Corvallis for 90 seconds of totality. Got to say that's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. I'm downloading the 1.4 gigs of photos Heather took with her camera. Got a couple with my phone at totality, but not great. Great fun though, and for all the hype there just wasn't that much traffic around here at all. I guess they planned well.

Wonderful photos, Julie!! We were only at about 88% so we didn't get darkness... darn it. :-)

Totality wasn't nearly as dark as we had thought it would be. It was really more like twilight. The sky was dark, obviously, but on the ground it was more like dusk than midnight. The whole thing was pretty awesome though.

Great photos! We had 75% here, and it was fun looking through the glasses and noticing how much darker it got.

At the peak time, I was stuck inside an auditorium with 200 other people listening to spiels about all of the insurance benefits I can have this year because of the agency. :wtf: I'm not even going to be there for 3 more weeks, much less another year. :angry48:

So, because of poor planning on our HR's part and the total unwillingness of my director to give me the day off instead of sitting in on :censor: that is meaningless to me, I missed 99% of the eclipse.

Debi - I absolutely love your shirts!

OK - three more weeks??? I'm thinking I would have issued a big ol' F.U. and walked out anyway (unless, of course, doing so would have forfeited any/all of your retirement benefits). There were lots of businesses around here that posted that they'd be closed for an hour during the event. Most people I know had no trouble either taking the day off or dropping what they were doing so they could go outside. I can't believe that the meeting attendees didn't all launch a protest and try to get the meeting rescheduled. It was worth rearranging one's day for. I'm so sorry you were confined inside. :(
