Saturday stencil making - a couple more cards

I had a bunch of fun today cutting stencils on the silhouette. I got plastic divider pages at the Dollar Tree. 8 in a package and I cut two packages worth. Tomorrow I'll get inky and post photos.

I also cleaned one cutting mat and then sprayed it with Krylon tack-something spray. I'll post the exact name tomorrow too. It works great and is going to be way cheaper than buying new mats. Haven't used it with paper yet, but it held the plastic just fine. It gave up a little on the 16th one, so the mat got a new dose of spray on it and I'll test some more tomorrow.

This plastic was a bit flimsy but I think it'll work ok. Going to try some thicker plastic material for some more.

This is a great idea Debi. And at the price, who cares if the stencils are flimsy and you toss them after just a few uses? Perfect for those images/subjects that you know wouldn't be staples in your scrappy arsenal.

Exactly!! Fun to use them for a while and then I can move on to other ones...

here are some of the ones I cut.... and here's the Krylon spray if anyone needs to sticky up their cutting mat... be sure to use painters' tape around all the edges so ONLY the middle 12x12 area gets sticky

They look wonderful!

Those sprays are good for a lot of things. Great idea, the new mats are really too sticky at first so this is better.

Debi your stencils look so professional! I was toying with this very idea when I saw a stencil for making cloud shapes at My Favorite Things. After seeing your success I will try this. Love that you used colored plastic.

I've used that spray on my mattes also before giving up on them. If they start out too sticky I use a large linty towel several times on the matte to drop down the stick. Sometimes I overdo it and nothing will come off of the matte. :P

Here are a bunch of card bases I made with the stencils and with splotches of distress ink on watercolor paper...

I haven't finished using the watercolor backgrounds yet... and still have a few of the stenciled ones to use, too... but got quite a stash of cards created, today!! I'm going to add some drops or enamel dots or something to some of them to liven them up a bit... but here are the basics!

I'll be adding something to those strips that have a sentiment on them and have blank space... and maybe some glossy accents just to give some parts some added attention.... like maybe the dots on the jellyfish...
