Another fabric project

Finally done. This is a Christmas themed lap quilt made with BASICGREY Evergreen fabric. Love the cross over into fabric for this company.

This is a quilt as you go project, meaning each square is individually pieced and quilted at the same time, then assembled. I added sashing to mask any imperfections where squares met.

It was a fun fabric project, amid all the paper projects.

What a lovely quilt, Pat. You will enjoy getting it out as part of your Christmas decorations each year. I did not know that Basic Grey did fabric collections too.
Kathryn.

Oh, I like that, Pat. How wide is your sashing? I was so sorry when I heard BG was going out of the paper business and very happy last year to see some of their designs translated into fabric. I really like the Mon Ami collection.

Thanks for the comments and kind words.

Marianne, the sashing is 1/2 " wide.

Yes, the strip was 1", but you know you gotta have seem allowances. So it's just enough to divert the eye from any imperfections. ;)

Wow! That's really cool!

I keep thinking that quilting could be one of those things that if I ever got into it, I would get obsessive (assuming I had time in my life to be obsessive about anything). But the actual quilting part always intimidated me. I could see myself with hundreds of quilt tops, and nothing ever completed. But a quilt as you go method sounds interesting.

Thanks again ladies. Paper and fabric...both are so much fun.

Julie, there is minimal quilting at the end. With mine, I added the backing fabric after all the squares were done and sewn together. I did a bit of stitching in the ditch here and there, to adhere the backing fabric. Not brain surgery or too time consuming. All in all, a different way to quilt. I bought a book, Quilt As-You-Go Made Modern by Jera Brandvig... another favorite thing to do :D , and I was good to go.

Cool! Thanks for the book reference. The only quilting I've ever done in my life was for a high school project. So it's been a very long time.. but it's always been something I've wanted to take up again.

Julie...this was my first try at this technique. Easy to do a bit here and there.

With that embroidery machine of yours, you can even make quilt labels...hint, hint.

Good luck in any future endeavors.
