January 2017 Holiday Card Challenge

Okay friends I'm ready to get this challenge started since it's a busy weekend kicking out 2016 and bringing in 2017!!!

My card is based around a paneled door and wreath. The door is one panel with 4 dry embossed panels arranged on top to look like a home's front door. Add a festive wreath of any kind finishes it off. Here are my measurements but create this card using the door idea however you wish.

Card base is 5 1/2 X 7 3/4. Score at 4 1/4 so cover of card falls short of edge by about 1/2 inch. The exposed edge is for the sentiment. The door base is 5 1/2 X 3 1/2 which is adhered to the front of card entirely covering it. The 4 panels are 2 1/2 X 1 1/2. Score on a score pal or other scoring device 1/4 inch in from the edges all the way around. Adhere the panels on top of door base. Now create some kind of wreath (mine is too big) for front door, add a door knob and sentiment along exposed edge. Do it 4 more times and you're on your way to a pile of cards by next December.

Can't wait to see your interpretation of this card.

I'm going to break out those CS stamps that have the doors and the wreaths... I've never used them (ok.. there are lots of those stamps I've been hoarding but haven't used) but they'd be perfect for a "front door" themed card, too. :-)

Great idea, Farley!!

Great idea, Farley. I love doors and windows as motifs.

Thanks all! I thought this would be a fun card look with lots of options and variations. I can't wait to make 4 more versions. Definitely needs a smaller wreath. That one is driving me crazy.

Fun card, Farley. Your bow reminded me that at the class I went to a couple weeks ago, the gal showed us how to make a bow out of a square of paper. I couldn't begin to repeat the instructions here, but it turns out she's an avid YouTuber and has a video on the process if you want to see it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gw6vUApUCrk. Be forewarned I find her a bit long-winded, but you can probably skip ahead some to save a bit of time. I've also included a screen-capture from the video, so you can see the bows and decide if it's worth your time.

Oh my. Those have to be the cutest bows ever. I like how they're dimensional but will still work on a card or scrapbook page. Thanks for the link.

Love the card challenge, Farley. And I have an idea too. Will have to wait till I get home on the 9th, but I will definitely be playing. It was fabulous having all my cards ready to go this year.

I have a new Iris storage box that is going to be for Christmas cards.... and... AND..... I found the ones I had made last year... that were lost! So those are going into the box first - I'm already ahead of the game for 2017... LOL

Going to try to do a little playing with this card idea over the weekend.

Going to make some Thank You cards for the expectant mom at work... as part of her baby shower gift. I made the shower invitations last weekend...

This is the die set....

And.... also the invitation that I made... and then I'm going to play with the onesie a bit more and make Thank You cards. :-)

Here's my card, which I notice I need to add a door knob - oh bother.
Mine is a standard A2 size so I adjusted measurements a bit.
Now if I can get the pieces all stamped & cut out I could feasibly assemble some at Renegade get together in January and be well on my way to my goal of 45 or so cards for 2017!

Not the best photo, the base card is more golden than yellow!

So pretty Nancy. I'm impressed with the wreath stamp. Is it layered or did you use markers or some other technique?

Well done Nancy! Your wreath is a great size for this card and I like the multiple panels.

I should have explained that my card dimensions I posted above also make an A2 size card.
