Still packing and planning to leave but the forecast is much better. Looks like Matthew might not come visit us.

The power of prayer! :-)

This stupid storm still can't make up its mind... these models look like all the meteorologists' equipment is on the fritz... but I like this graphic the best so far because it doesn't have all the lines coming straight up the coast of NC... nor does it have them coming up through the middle of NC, either...

Yeah, not letting down my guard yet. Remember Dennis? Went right up the coast and then circled back around to hit us again. Still, I feel a bit of relief.
I hope you are able to stay home - in a nice dry home.

I'm staying home at this point. Will keep a close watch on what happens if it loops back around. Not renting the cargo van yet, but not unpacking the totes either!

I like the models that show it moving NE - hope that's the path the dratted thing takes.

On a positive note - evidently I motivated George a little bit. He had the generator picked up today for servicing and it's "supposed" to be back in our yard Friday. Now I have to let him build a little garden shed behind the house to store it in. Fine with me as long as there's room for the push mower, the power washer, the weed eater, and my rakes and shovels. ;)

The 8 pm models all show it heading East before it gets to NC.... I'm thrilled with that... I'm still not unpacking the totes yet.... I may keep the scrapbooks in totes forever... LOL

I am, however.... going to buy new interior doors... I know... odd comment... but the nice new ones we had bought after Irene got wet when Arthur flooded the house.. not as much but the water was still icky... Mike went on a rampage when it happened and threw them all out except for one bedroom door and the bathroom door... so we've been contending with using pieces of the styrofoam insulation to block Chevie's access to rooms. The bigger downside other than how lovely the foam looks... is that it's a pain to slide it out of the way and then prop it in place again. There's a lot I can put up with but I think I'm finished putting up with that... I looked at Lowe's and those doors aren't that horribly expensive. So.... cheap doors it is.... once I know Matthew is gone!

It's really little things that perk me up. LOL

Doors.... who knew? :-)

Makes perfect sense to me. Doors you can do something about, hurricanes, not so much!

I've been thinking about you East Coast ladies a LOT the past couple of days! I can't even imagine. Just know that I'm thinking of you all, and hope you will check in when you can to let everyone know you're safe.

Pam - I adore how scrapbook adhesive is on your emergency supply list! I think wine would be one of my emergency supplies. ;-) Thankfully, our wine cellar is in the safest part of the house (our natural disaster risk is a tornado, and the wine is in the basement, along the underground side). My scrap room is mostly underground, so my supplies are safe, but I honestly should consider an emergency plan for my completed albums.

Debbie - head this way if you need to; better safe than sorry! Who knows which way this storm will head... Kurt and I have room, a generator and a gas grill, PAM C!!!! Don't make me come and get you & Joel  . Besides, my pups are used to cats (lol).

Seriously, my thoughts and prayers are with us all in what could be the affected areas of this horrible storm. Please be careful and stay safe :happy94: .
Find time each day to rejoice in the journey...

We have several counties in our service area that have already cancelled classes - Bladen and Brunswick. Columbus is dismissing children at 12:00 tomorrow, but staff are working. I doubt seriously if they'll do anything for us - we'll be driving home at 5:00 in a downpour.

and here we go again.... as of 5 pm the models show the possibility of this thing skirting right up the edge of the coastline and coming to see us... so tomorrow I'll be keeping an eye on it and packing up MORE stuff....

Julie.... I love Pam's idea of having plenty of adhesive on hand... I was making sure I was packing everything I was using on the current Arizona project... and adhesive was definitely going with me if I rented a van and headed west...
