Didn't really get to play on my birthday so I'm a day behind now, but I'm still having fun.

1st up: Texture Paste Embossing. Fun technique and a really nicely raised effect.

2nd: Texture Paste Coloring. My texture paste is homemade and not quite as absorbent as the opaque stuff called for in the class, but it worked ok and maybe I'll get some of that to play with.

I wish I had your color sense. These are wonderful!

1 part white paint, 1 part baby powder, 1/2 part mod podge or book binding glue, stir till it's smooth.

Really like the texture paste tag samples. What did you use on the 1st one - it looks silver? I'm also curious as to what stencil that is. I want to go home and play, LOL.

That one has silver embossing powder sprinkled on the wet texture paste and allowed to air dry, then you can heat emboss. I think the stencil is from Club Scrap's Versailles kit, but I'm not positive on that. It's a large stencil, like 10x10 and I just used a small portion.

Day 4: Distress Crayons.

I'm absolutely in love with the Distress Crayons. I almost didn't buy them as I have lots of Gelatos and I kind of assumed they'd be about the same, but Tim did a side by side comparison of them both and while they have similarities the crayons have some different properties that provide for some cool blending techniques, so I'm glad I went ahead and invested in some.

First up: Distress Crayon Smudge. By the Numbers CS stencil for this one.

Second: Distress Crayon Texture Resist. Nature's Wonders CS stencil for this one.

Both of these use my homemade texture paste and I would say that the smudge technique it worked fine with, but you really need the opaque texture paste to get the full effect in the texture resist technique. Both nice techniques though and I would definitely use them for backgrounds.

Day 4 continued.

Distress Crayon Gesso Fresco. This one is my favorite technique of the class so far. One tag uses the stencils from CS Rhapsody, Mocha Java, By the Numbers and Versailles and the other uses mainly the Science stencil and Expressions.

Love all the colors you used and how they look on the paste.

I'm waiting for my order of Yupo to arrive so I can do some of the techniques from Day 5, so today I went back and did a few that I skipped from days 1 through 4.

From Day 1: Distress Washed Watercolor; this one uses microglaze to seal the image and I think I needed to use a little more, I'm not unhappy with it though.

From Day 2: Distress Stain Rub Resist; great way to use up old rubons, of which I have very few, but I tried it with these white ones with a summer theme. I should have used a more defined stamp than the little boy at the beach one, but I got the concept.

From Day 4: Distress Crayon Watercolor Resist; I like this one the best from today's play. The crayons are very easy to color with and this technique shows the difference between the crayons and gelatos. You wouldn't be able to ink over or spritz water without the gelatos reacting. The crayons dry and offer a resist.

Interesting comments about the Distress crayons. You're the only person I know who has them so far. I wondered what folks thought of them.

Wow Rachelle, I'm trying to keep up with your wonderful art. Fantastic job keeping up or nearly so with this class. You really are getting a lot out of this.

I really like day 2 and day 4 also. I have some rubons that I have never figured out how to use. I'd love to play with this idea. And the last one is gorgeous. Nice stamps!
