STAMPTEMBER 2015 Animal Card Challenge...I totally forgot!
STAMPTEMBER 2015 Animal Card Challenge...I totally forgot!
Yes, my mind is going in way too many directions this month for some reason. I TOTALLY forgot to make a challenge for September until right now.
Since Stamptember has come up in discussion I decided to look into this for some help. I noted while looking through not only SSS blog but nearly everywhere else the trend of animal stamps. Cutesy, sophisticated, whacky...it's all out there. Mammals, fish, reptiles and of course birds on everything! So dig up something animal related and use it for a card. Stamp it, paint it, color it. It's up to you.
I've had several animal card ideas rumbling about and this is a great time to give them a try. I'll be back soon with a few of my cards ideas.

Sounds like fun, Farley. I do have a bird stamp that's never been inked.....

Perfect Marianne! That will also count for the Stamptember NBUS challenge. I bet I might have one or two critters that could qualify for both.

I'll need to see what I can do with the insect stamps we got one year in the CS summer PSL. Been wanting to play with those.

For my first animal card I found time tonight to make this card that I've been wanting to make for ages. Distress Ink background with Stamping Up stamps. I will decide later if I want a sentiment on the front. I just LOVE these birds.

This is gorgeous, Farley.

So, so pretty! What a beautiful effect!
The bird stamp is pretty wonderful. It would also look great with a sand-colored (depending on which beach, right?) base and a lighter blue sky for more of a traditional "beachy" look. Nice, versatile design.

Thanks everyone!
Marianne, it's not brayered. I tape off the card stock and use the Tim blending tools. Just two colors and blend them where the colors meet. What is really cool to do (that I didn't do here) is to then brush on a layer of Perfect Pearls to give it a metallic sheen.

Thanks, Farley, I've never tried that with Distress inks.
