Someone mentioned going to dinner where they were being served traditional Mexican food. Was it someone here? I sure miss my memory...

Here's one of my faves. Hope you like it!

That was me and wow was it wonderful! We had so much food that it could have easily fed 20 more people. All I was asked to bring was a 12 pack of Diet Pepsi, so I got off easy! We had pork chili, homemade tortillas, retried beans, chicken mole, pork tamales, tacos and Chipotle and Piloncillo Glazed Ham! Not to mention cakes and pies galore! There were about 30 of us there and after we ate the kids smashed confetti eggs over everyone's head. It was fun.

Wow, Debbie, that sounds wonderful. We love real Mexican food.

Thanks for posting that website, Pam, it looks great. I'll be exploring the real Mexican section of our supermarket more closely for some of those ingredients.

I had to ask one of the vendors at our flea market for the piloncillo (sp?) - its a brown sugar and comes in a cone shape. He sells it in his store but it was too far to drive. Brown sugar is an acceptable substitute but I always think it's nice to have authentic ingredients.

Pati's website has so many great recipes - and I love her show (on PBS).

I have some I got on Amazon. Has a little different taste than brown sugar but brown sugar would be a good substitute.

Your get together sounds like great fun Debbie! I don't eat Mexican much mainly because my stomach doesn't do spicy.

Mexican food is yummy. I love chicken mole and and enchiladas with tomatillo sauce. Hmm, maybe we'll have Mexican for dinner! ;)
