April Challenge! (use your scraps)

Post by pamcook »

Thanks to all of you who are playing along with me. I had every intention of giving gifts every month - and who knows, I may yet catch up with that. Hey, it could happen!

So for April - I want you to use your scraps. The only full sheet of paper you can use is the background piece. Pull out your zip lock bag or basket of paper scraps - or simply use what's on your desk right now. There's a million ways to use scraps (and to be honest, I'm not the best at remembering to use them). Make a quilt block embellishment. Make a herringbone border strip. Cut them into 3 x 4 pieces and use them to make a strip across the page. Use all those branding strips to make a border. Cut them into various sized circles to bounce around on the background of your layout. I'm looking forward to seeing how you use up your scrap stash.

As usual - this isn't just for scrapbookers. You can use your scraps on art journal pages, cards, mixed media art pieces...

I used scraps I found on my desk and think I counted 11 scraps I used up completely!! Whoopee! All the embellishments I used were also from my desk, but when you see my desk you will understand. This picture was taken in 2009. My youngest daughter's husband died in his sleep and this is us at the mall in Casper waiting for the service to begin. This is grandchildren Caitlin and Jak. They aren't siblings but cousins. Doesn't seem like 6 years has gone by already.

Also here's a photo of my lovely desk.....I call it my Happy Place :D

That's a beautiful page Debbie. Such a sad story though. Those are the hardest for me to record - the sad ones.

I put all my scraps into a hu-mon-go zip lock bag this past week - at least I'll know where to go for scraps. (My plan is to put what will fit into the dresser drawer next to my tower of paper. If I need to add to it and the drawer is full, I have to either make a layout with some scraps or throw some in the recycling bin. )

That's very nice, Debbie. I really like the pastels with the black and white.

What a wonderful job on that layout. I am sure it was a very difficult time. I find times like that hard to scrap but they are also a good way of helping to remember good time.

Great layout, but I agree it must have been hard to scrap that.

Beautiful layout, all from scraps!
It must've been such a hard time for you all.

Thanks everyone, I guess that's why I waited 6 years to scrap it. If you have seen my LO's of Ashley, this was her Dad.

Shimelle sketch of course. My son (Kenan's papa) in 1989. Yes, I'm that old.

At first I thought, no way--I can't believe he's that grown up! Very nice LO and I like the random Washi tape.

Thanks Debbie!
This one feels like cheating but scraps is scraps, right?

Our niece will soon be a bride. Dang I'm feeling old tonight!
