March 2015 Challenge
Re: March 2015 Challenge
Marianne your idea to make journal cards is brilliant. These cards are wonderful. I love how you made the sun with the banners...so very clever.

Re: March 2015 Challenge
I had so much fun with this challenge that I did all these cards in one day. I took my materials to my weekly Wednesday crafting group to work on.
First the die...this is the Cherry Blossom die from Darice. I went a little overboard and made 5 ways of using the die.
Card one is paper pieced. The base die cut is out of one printed paper (which I ended up inking in brown Distress ink) and the flowers were cut from the die out of another printed paper.
Card two is a stand alone die cut from watercolor paper that I then colored it all in with Copics.

Card three is the "negative" of the die. I layered it with foam tape over printed paper.
Card four is "stenciled" from the negative space left by one of the die cuts. I sponged color through the stencil with Distress Ink.
Finally card five is an inlaid version. Using the negative leftover piece I inserted the die cut blossoms from a patterned paper.

Re: March 2015 Challenge
Wow, wow, wow!!! You all did terrific jobs. I love seeing all the different ways to use these dies. I look forward to getting home (not really) later today and then having time in my craft room. Since I have hit a couple of the craft stores while we have been away I have new goodies to play with.

Those are beautiful, Farley, such different looks!
Re: March 2015 Challenge
Thanks everyone! Pam this was such a great challenge that I may have to try another die. I was thinking I should use a holiday die to make my 5 holiday cards for March. Hmmmm....

Re: March 2015 Challenge
Glad you're enjoying this challenge. I thought it could be fun. When I went through my dies, I realized most of mine don't work for what I wanted to do. This morning, I realized I hadn't gone through my set of thin dies to look for possibles. Sad, right? A whole set of dies I had forgotten about.

Re: March 2015 Challenge
I used a basic "frame" die for this challenge. I used it with a tan rubber mat to emboss it onto card and vellum. I used it to cut an aperture in a card blank. I did a regular "die-cut" and used both the positive and negative. I sponged and stamped through the "hole" and made a zig-zag book.
